It doesn't take very much effort to put together this chocolate coffee cake recipe, but the result it well worth it. The crumb topping adds a sweet topping to the rich chocolate cake. It makes a great addition to the brunch menu - like the name suggest, it pairs great with a cup of coffee!

  • 2 cups
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup
    sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsps
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 cup
    butter (1/2 stick) , softened
  • 1
    egg
  • 3/4 cup
    milk
  • 3/4 cup
    HERSHEY'S Syrup

Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 9-inch square baking pan.

Stir together flour and sugar in large bowl. Remove 1/4 cup mixture; set aside for topping. Stir baking soda, baking powder and salt into remaining flour mixture. Add butter, egg, milk and syrup; beat until well blended. Pour batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle reserved flour mixture over top.

Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. (Cake will have a very slight sink in the center.) Serve warm or at room temperature.
