It's a boy! It's a girl! No matter what the baby's gender, your baby shower guests will love these cupcakes topped with edible pink and blue hair bows. The secret to these baby cupcake toppers? JOLLY RANCHER Fruit Chews.
Cover tray or work surface with wax paper. Remove wrappers from fruit chews.
For each bow or bow tie, heat one candy in microwave at medium (50%) for about 5 seconds to soften. Flatten slightly with rolling pin into rectangle about 1-1/2 x 1 inch. Rub small amount of coconut oil on fingertips (if necessary) and shape into bows and bow ties by pinching in the center of rectangle; rounding edges and curving to shape the bow. Use knife to shape or cut edges as needed. If shaping becomes difficult, soften by heating in microwave at medium an additional 5 seconds. Repeat procedure for number of desired bows or bow ties.
To make bow centers, microwave one candy piece at medium 5 seconds. (One piece will make 4 bow centers). Flatten with rolling pin into 2 x 1-inch rectangle; quickly cut into 4 strips. Mold one strip around center of each bow or bow tie and press ends into place. Repeat procedure for remaining strips needed. Allow bows and bow ties to cool and firm. Makes 18 to 24 bows or bow ties.
Add cooled bow or bow ties to frosted cupcakes.
